The Shangri-La Fijian

The Shangri-La Fijian Resort is on its own private 109-acre island (connected to the main island by a causeway) 45 minutes drive from Nadi. It really is Fiji’s complete holiday resort – affordable with a host of facilities and activities few can match. Somehow they have managed to create a resort that has a Fijian village atmosphere – while there are families with children and a kids club, there is still an atmosphere of romance with plenty of adults only areas.

There are a variety of room types (which can suit couples with wedding guests, particularly those with families). For couples, the Suites have a King Bed and are located in either the Lagoon Wing or Coral Wing with Ocean Views. They feature a separate sitting room, satellite/cable television and a computer dataport. There are four special Two Bedroom Bures located on the Lagoon Waterfront and while they do suit families, they are also very romantic and private.

All rooms feature air-conditioning, ceiling fans, telephone, in-room safe, refrigerator, tea and coffee making facilities, toiletries, hairdryer, bath robes, iron and ironing board, private balcony or patio. Televisions feature in all expect Lagoon View Rooms.

The dining options include The Beach Bar & Grill (casual lunchtime eatery with barbeques at night on the beachfront next to the Lagoon Pool); The Lagoon Terrace Restaurant overlooks the lagoon and serves buffet breakfast, a la carte dinners and theme buffets (also has an all day dining menu); The Takali Terrace Restaurant is on the edge of the Pacific Ocean with panoramic views of the reef and opens for breakfast, poolside lunch snacks and a la carte Asian cuisine and seafood for dinner; The Kalevu Restaurant is the Fijian’s signature air-conditioned restaurant (live dance band each evening – closed on Fridays) and there’s the Golden Cowrie Restaurant (traditional Fijian themed restaurant available for special events).

You won’t have a hard time finding a place to head for afternoon drinks, with 5 different bars, you can choose a different setting every day. They include the Bilo Bar (beachfront for cocktails at sunset); the Black Marlin Bar with a DJ at nights Tuesday to Saturday (Sunday is karaoke); The Niu Bar is on the terrace of the golf shop overlooking the 9th hole of the golf course; the Coral Bar is by the new infinity horizon pool and there’s the Takali Bar poolside.

Hotel facilities include 24-hour Room Service, car rental services, a drugstore/minimart, duty free store, florist, foreign exchange counter, gift shop, hair/beauty salon, laundry & valet services, non-smoking rooms, photo processing services, postal/parcel services, safe deposit box and a shopping arcade.
