Castaway Island

Castaway Island is a first class tropical island resort, situated in the crystal clear waters of Fiji’s famous Mamanuca Islands, easily accessible from the mainland and has something for everyone.

With 66 individual thatched bures, beachfront, ocean view, or an island setting, they are all perfectly suited to the tropical climate and barefoot nature of the island – warm waters, beautiful sunsets and romantic evenings.

All of the resorts bures feature one queen size bed and two single beds with traditional Fijian design high roofs and ceiling mounted fans. Sleeping and living quarters are separate with and emphasis on privacy and comfort. Each bure also has a large en suite bathroom including separate shower, toilet and vanity area with hairdryer and toiletries. There’s also a well-stocked mini bar, refrigerator, tea and coffee making facilities.

Castaway’s buffet breakfast is one you should get out of bed for – it includes tropical fruits and juices, cereals, a selection of hot dishes including bacon, sausages, eggs any style, fresh baked croissants, hot cakes Danish pastries, tea and freshly brewed coffee. If you do happen to miss breakfast then you won’t be disappointed as they have an all-day casual dining menu for light snacks and meals.

At night it’s a beautiful spot to dine alfresco under the stars overlooking the water. The gourmet wood fired pizzas in the Sundowner Bar are excellent and on Wednesday nights there is a Fijian Feast and Meke (dance). Saturday is Beach BBQ night and also the Resort Manager’s Cocktail Party.

Resort facilities include a swimming pool, boutique, general store, laundry services, first aid clinic, safety deposit, massage centre, dance band, bar, restaurant, theme nights, and Fijian Cultural entertainment.

They also offer a wide variety of activities including game fishing and night fishing trips, snorkelling trips, scuba diving (Gotham City is particularly rewarding). The Dive shop is a PADI 5 Star Gold Palm Award Winning Dive Centre. There’s tennis and beach volleyball every afternoon, a pool table to test your skills, table tennis, or the 12-hole putt-putt golf course.

They have plenty of watersports activities, too. From windsurfers, to catamaran sailboats, paddleboards, spy-boards, snorkels, masks and fins (all free of charge). Some of the watersports activities where charges do apply include banana rides, parasailing, jetskiing, and waterskiing.
